To lose one pound, you either have to burn an extra 3,500 calories through exercise or eat 3,500 fewer calories in your diet. The easiest way for most women over 40 to accomplish this is to do both. If you consume 200 fewer calories each day and burn 150 calories exercising, you will lose one pound every 10 days.
